The Philadelphia Flyers made Carter Hart the first goaltender chosen at the 2016 NHL Draft, using their 48th overall pick - and their second selection of the round - to land the Everett Silvertips starter.

It's the longest an NHL draft has gone without a goalie selected since 1986.

Carter Hart

Position: Goalie
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 181 pounds
Age: 17
Club: Everett
Nationality: Canadian

Ranked second among North American netminders on NHL Central Scouting's final rankings behind only the Sherbrooke Phoenix's Evan Fitzpatrick, Hart's an undersized, but technically sound netminder.

Hart boasted Western Hockey League-best numbers among normal starters, winning 35 of his 63 appearances with a .918 save percentage, 2.14 GAA, and three shutouts.

Hart has a long development path ahead of him, but a solid base to build on toward becoming a potential NHL starter.
