NHL Game Summary - San Jose at Nashville

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - David Legwand posted a goal and an assist and Marek Mazanec made 26 saves as the Nashville Predators took a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.

Mattias Ekholm and Roman Josi both scored for the Predators, who broke a three-game slide.

Joe Pavelski and Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, who had won two of three coming in. Antti Niemi allowed all three goals on 28 shots in the loss.

The Predators scored the first goal of the game at 3:35 of the second period after the team won a left circle faceoff. The puck eventually came down to the right side where Legwand was able to wrist it in for his seventh of the year.

San Jose got the goal back three minutes later on the power play as Pavelski left a drop pass at the right point and charged the net, redirecting a Dan Boyle shot for his 19th of the year.

However, the Predators took the lead back moments later as Ekholm's turnaround backhand shot from the right circle tipped off a Shark and went in for a 2-1 advantage.

Nashville was able to take a 3-1 lead at 11:30 after Josi brought the puck behind the net and out the right side before wristing it in. A Nashville player had crashed into Niemi prior to the goal, but no interference was called as he was pushed into the net by a Shark.

The Sharks were able to make it a one-goal game with 1:22 to play in the third as a hard shot from the right point by Matt Nieto was redirected into the net by Marleau for his 20th of the season.

San Jose, though, was unable to get any serious chances before the clock expired.
