NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at Ottawa

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Craig Anderson stopped 40 shots to lead the Ottawa Senators in a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

Bobby Ryan posted a goal and an assist, while Zack Smith had a goal and Kyle Turris added two assists for the Senators, who came into the game having lost three of four.

Tyler Ennis scored the only goal of the game for the Sabres, who have dropped four of their last five. Ryan Miller made 30 saves in the loss.

Ottawa took the initial lead in the game as Turris picked up a broken pass at the low right circle and whipped it out front where Ryan swept it in for his 15th of the season at 9:22 of the first.

Buffalo, though, tied the game with 2:21 to play in the first while on the power play, as Ennis took the puck behind the net from the left side to the right where he wrapped it in for his seventh of the season.

The Senators went back on top at 6:39 of the second period. Ryan checked a defender to get the puck then made a move around another Sabre along the left wing. He then fired the puck down low for Turris, who passed it out front and saw the puck go off a defender. However, the disc found its way to the stick of Smith, who shot it home for a 2-1 lead.

Anderson made 13 saves in the second period, then helped Ottawa kill off a pair of penalties in the third, including most of the final two minutes of a 6-on-4 after Milan Michalek was whistled for holding and Buffalo pulled Miller.
