NHL Game Summary - Carolina at Vancouver

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Eddie Lack posted his first career shutout as the Vancouver Canucks blanked the Carolina Hurricanes 2-0 on Monday.

Lack, who was making just his eighth career appearance, turned aside 31 shots in the win.

"My dad was watching for sure. I'm sure he's very happy for me, a little tired, but happy. It'll be a good day at work for him," said Lack.

Christopher Tanev and Jannik Hansen both scored and Chris Higgins added a pair of assists for the Cancuks, winners in five straight.

Justin Peters made 24 saves for the Hurricanes, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Tanev lit the lamp 3:35 into the game. Higgins collected a loose puck after Peters made a save with his right pad and dropped it back to Dan Hamhuis near the blue line on the left side. Hamhuis sent the disc over to Tanev at the point, and he blasted it past Peters for a 1-0 edge.

The Hurricanes had several opportunities late in the game to get on the board, including a pair of shots five seconds apart, but Lack was able to turn aside offerings from Andrej Sekara and Justin Faulk to keep the shutout alive.

Hansen added an empty netter with 1:14 left to account for the final margin.
