NHL Game Summary - NY Islanders at Carolina

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Peters stopped all 21 shots he faced in net to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 1-0 victory over the New York Islanders at PNC Arena.

Peters earned his first shutout and second win of the season since taking the place of injured starter Cam Ward.

The lone goal of the game came early in the first period when Ron Hainsey took a shot from the point before Radek Dvorak deflected it past Kevin Poulin.

Carolina has now beaten the Islanders in five straight games.

Poulin stopped 23-of-24 shots for New York, which has lost two in a row.
