NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at NY Rangers

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Henrik Lundqvist posted 29 saves to notch his second shutout of the season, as the New York Rangers racked up a season- high 46 shots in a 2-0 blanking of the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday at Madison Square Garden.

Derick Brassard and Chris Kreider each lit the lamp once for the Rangers, who earned their first home victory of the season after dropping a 2-0 decision to Montreal on Monday in their home opener.

Ryan Miller allowed both goals in the setback, Buffalo's third in a row and sixth in its last seven games.

The Rangers broke through on the power play just under 8 1/2 minutes in after Buffalo's Tyler Myers went off for tripping at 7:25.

With New York working in the offensive zone, Brassard rifled a heavy slapper from above the left circle that found the top right corner of the net to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead at 8:23.

New York doubled its lead past the midpoint of the second when Kreider came up with a long rebound on the low left side and flipped a shot from just below the goal line that deflected off the back of Miller and into the net for a 2-0 lead at 11:22.

Lundqvist capped his 47th career shutout with a stellar third frame, turning away all 11 shots he faced in the period to keep Buffalo off the board.
