NHL Game Summary - Nashville at Winnipeg

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Carter Hutton made 37 saves in his second career start to carry the Nashville Predators past the Winnipeg Jets, 3-1, at MTS Centre.

Matt Cullen, Eric Nystrom and Patric Hornqvist backed Hutton's strong performance with a goal apiece as the Predators rolled to their second win in as many nights and fourth in five games.

Ondrej Pavelec gave up three goals on 26 shots as the Jets fell to 2-3-0 on their six-game homestand.

Evander Kane was credited with Winnipeg's lone goal as a result of a scrum in front of the net with 9:13 gone in the third period, but the Jets couldn't overcome the Predators' three-goal second period.

Nashville's Matt Cullen had the best chance in a scoreless first when he came out of the penalty box and was denied by Pavelec on a breakaway.

Ten seconds into the second period, Nashville's Matt Hendricks was whistled for hooking and the Predators scored with him in the box. Nystrom blocked a shot at the point to create a 2-on-1. He kept it himself down the right side and flicked in a wrister from the circle for the unassisted tally.

Pavelec made a poor clear behind his net later in the period. Hornqvist intercepted it along the boards, threw it on net and banked it off Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian at the 12:07 mark.

Bogosian went off for cross-checking less than a minute later, and just as he was getting out of the box, Cullen top-shelfed one into the back of the net for a 3-0 Jets lead.
