Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was criticized for his lack of grace in defeat after he walked out of the Super Bowl 50 postgame press conference after barely answering any questions.

However, it appears Newton might have had a valid reason to want to leave the room.

In the video below, Broncos cornerback Chris Harris can be heard talking about his team's gameplan to stop the Panthers, and, in particular, how they challenged Newton to prove he could throw the football.

While it still isn't an excuse to leave the press conference in such a manner, it should be understood that Newton just suffered the biggest disappointment a professional football player can face.

Many will still presumably not agree with his actions, but it appears to be an emotional reaction, with Newton understandably not wanting to sit and listen to his opponents brag about their victory.
