Veteran cornerback Cortland Finnegan is coming out of retirement.

In need of help at nickel corner, the Carolina Panthers announced Monday they have signed Finnegan.

The Panthers have been without starting cornerback Charles Tillman for the past two games due to a knee injury, forcing them to move slot corner Bene Benwikere to the outside.

Finnegan retired from the NFL in March following his release from the Miami Dolphins, with whom he spent the 2014 season. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans and two seasons in St. Louis before joining the Dolphins.

In 128 career games, Finnegan has 645 tackles, 18 interceptions, and 86 passes defensed.
