Adrian Peterson passes O.J. Simpson on NFL's all-time rushing list
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson moved up two spots into 19th place on the NFL's all-time rushing list during the first half of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Peterson eclipsed O.J. Simpson's career mark of 11,236 yards with a 10-yard run in the second quarter, moving into 20th place. On his next carry, Peterson passed Corey Dillon's mark of 11,241 yards to jump another spot.
Peterson recently tied another Simpson record with his sixth career 200-yard rushing performance, the most in NFL history.
"O.J.'s a guy that I looked up to," Peterson said. "Obviously, he did incredible things during his career, and to be able to tie him and to look forward to passing him, it's a great accomplishment. It would mean a lot. He's No. 20 (all-time in rushing), and that's how you get to No. 1. So you keep taking these steps, and you're seeing the guys that you're passing, so it's humbling."
