Johnny Manziel played coy with the media after photos and video surfaced of him partying during the Cleveland Browns' bye week, suggesting they could be old.

That's also reportedly what he told the Browns' coaching staff.

Manziel was demoted to third-string quarterback because he lied to the Browns about how old the images were and told the people who shot the video to lie as well, Jay Glazer said Thursday on FOX Sports' pregame show.

As Deadspin notes, the song playing in the background of the video is "March Madness" by Future, which was released in March of this year. The original video also included the caption "Sippin on Dom Perignon for no reason with #johnnymanziel," which references a Future and Drake track that was released Sept. 20.

The Browns wanted Manziel to stay around the team facility during the bye and "lay low," and felt "betrayed" when he did the opposite, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Head coach Mike Pettine said Wednesday that the Browns didn't consider releasing Manziel after the latest incident and that his future with the Browns is far from over.

"We told him yesterday - this isn't a dead end," Pettine said. "This is a hurdle. It's an obstacle. So, part of success in athletics is dealing with adversity, and this will be an example of it."
