Report: Steelers' Bryant dealing with knee injury; status vs. Chargers unclear

Jason Bridge / USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is dealing with a knee injury suffered in practice Monday, according to Ross Jones of FOX Sports.

Jones' report characterizes the ailment as a tweak, and the injury provides an explanation for Bryant's absence from each of the two team sessions held since.

Bryant spent the first four games of the season serving a suspension, so the Steelers aren't required to list him on the injury report until officially adding him to the active roster.

Barring significant progress ahead of Saturday's practice, it appears as though the dynamic receiver will be held out of Monday night's game against the San Diego Chargers and have his return delayed at least another week.

Darrius Heyward-Bey and Markus Wheaton will continue to take on more substantial roles until Bryant eventually recaptures his role as the No. 2 receiver opposite Antonio Brown.
