Jerry Jones: Randle wasn't benched vs. Saints; unsure who will start Sunday

Joseph Randle landed in the doghouse Sunday after he stretched the ball over the pile at the goal line, but Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones denies Randle's carelessness led to a limited workload in the second half of the team's loss to the New Orleans Saints.

"No, we didn't bench him," Jones said during his weekly radio show on 105.3 The Fan, per the Dallas Morning News. "We did not bench him. We just wanted (Darren) McFadden in there at that time. Seriously, it was not a bench."

Jones's comments differ from those of head coach Jason Garrett, who said Monday the play was the reason Randle had only four carries in the second half.

Asked whether Randle will remain starter against the New England Patriots, Jones replied, "Well, I don't know how they'll line up, but that sequence or that goal-line play wouldn't impact who starts out the game. But I'm not hedging at all, we'll just see how they look in practice this week."
