The decision on Tom Brady's four-game suspension is in the hands of a U.S. District Court judge after the NFL and NFLPA were unable to reach a settlement, and the Deflategate saga slowly appears to be coming to a close.

Judge Richard M. Berman released an order Tuesday stating that the court anticipates a ruling being issued by the end of the week.

The order can be considered a more concrete reiteration of Berman's comments from Monday, when he indicated that a decision could be made within the next one-to-two days, and certainly by Friday.

Berman had been encouraging the two sides to negotiate a settlement before a decision from the court would be necessary, but there was little to no indication that there was ever any substantial progress made in those talks.

A ruling being issue this week would give both sides an answer well in advance of the 2015 regular season, making it unnecessary for Brady to file for an injunction in an effort to get back on the field.
