The New York Jets sent tight end Jace Amaro and defensive lineman Kevin Vickerson to injured reserve ahead of Tuesday's 75-man cutdown deadline.
Amaro, the team's second-round pick in 2013, suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason opener. He is set for surgery to repair a torn labrum, Manish Mehta of the Daily News reports.
Amaro caught 38 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie. His absence will likely force Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis into bigger roles.
Vickerson, who signed with the Jets in March, sustained a significant hamstring injury.
