The Chicago Bears are releasing cornerback Tim Jennings, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jennings, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, led the NFL in interceptions during the 2012 season.

"They told me they were going to go younger," Jennings said to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

The veteran cornerback recorded 50 tackles and a forced fumble, playing in all 16 games last season. Jennings spent the past five seasons with the Bears after beginning his career with the Indianapolis Colts.

Tracy Porter and Alan Ball will compete to take over Jennings' position in the starting lineup.

Chicago also waived defensive back Malcolm Bronson, cornerback Al Louis-Jean, tight end Kevin Greene, offensive tackle Cameron Jefferson, wide receivers Jeremy Kelley and Levi Norwood, defensive end Olsen Pierre, tight end Chris Pantale and long snapper Rick Lovato.
