Report: Jake Long to visit Giants

Former No. 1 overall pick Jake Long will visit the New York Giants after the veteran offensive tackle completes his visit with the Atlanta Falcons, NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports.

Interest in Long is picking up as training camp draws nearer. The Giants sniffed around Long in May, after losing starting left tackle Will Beatty to a torn pectoral, but didn't make a commitment.

Now, with the Falcons showing interest, the Giants appear to have resumed their pursuit.

If signed, Long would give the Giants the flexibility not to force rookie Ereck Flowers into the starting left tackle job.

Long spent the first six years of his career with the Miami Dolphins before joining the St. Louis Rams for two seasons from 2013 to 2014. Injuries have hampered his play in recent seasons, but he represents a possible free-agent bargain if he can remain healthy and return to something resembling the form he showed early in his career.
