Report: NFLPA files appeal for Greg Hardy's 10-game suspension

After the decision to hand Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy a 10-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, the NFL's disciplinary process is once again being met with a fight.

The NFL Players Association reportedly filed its appeal on behalf of Hardy on Friday night, requesting that the league designate a neutral arbitrator to handle the proceedings, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

As Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported Friday, Hardy's suspension could be reduced to anywhere from two to six games.

According to the Pro Football Talk report, Hardy and the NFLPA will likely contend that the league can't apply its newly introduced conduct policy retroactively to the time of Hardy's alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident.

While each case is different, the fact that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson recently won a suspension appeal involving the same process may work heavily in favor of Hardy's case.

After having difficulty finding a new team in free agency, Hardy signed a one-year, $11.3 million contract with the Cowboys earlier this offseason.
