Dallas Cowboys fans are regarded as some of the most loyal in the NFL. They're also the most active on social media.

Proofpoint Nexgate analyzed the official Facebook pages of the 12 teams that advanced to the playoffs during the first three weeks of January and found that Cowboys fans, with 247,057 comments, were the most active.

The Green Bay Packers fanbase came in second with 157,200 comments, followed by the New England Patriots (134,100), Baltimore Ravens (86,200) and Pittsburgh Steelers (81,606).

Proofpoint also tracked profanity on the Facebook pages of the 12 playoff teams. The runaway winner in that category was the Steelers, with 6.1 percent of all comments determined to be inappropriate. The Ravens finished second, with inappropriate content representing 1.6 percent of all comments.

As for the most polite fanbases, that would be the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos, who tied with the lowest percentage of inappropriate content at 0.32 percent. Trailing them are the Seattle Seahawks, whose fans post inappropriate content just 0.35 percent of the time.
