Report: Patriots, Revis not currently discussing contract extension

The New England Patriots would certainly like to bring Darrelle Revis back next season, they are just focused on other things at the moment.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports the Patriots and Revis are not currently discussing a new contract at the moment.

That's not all that surprising, considering New England is preparing to play in the Super Bowl later this week. However, if the Patriots let Revis hit the open market, he won't be available for long.

A report surfaced earlier in the week that the Patriots haven't ruled out picking up his $20-million option in 2015, but that seems unlikely.

The Pats figure to employ their usual strategy in negotiations, by trying to get an elite player to take a discount and stay in New England. A victory on Sunday could go a long way in convincing Revis to do just that.
