Jaguars overcome halftime deficit to defeat Titans for 3rd win of year

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Tennessee Titans 21-13 to record their third victory of the year.

Blake Bortles went 13-of-26 for 115 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions. The rookie overcame a foot injury to start for the Jaguars and was much better than his statistics suggest.

Tennessee dropped to 2-13, increasing its chances of getting the first overall selection in next summer's draft.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Tennessee opened the scoring on the first drive of the game. Leon Washington caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Whitehurst to give the Titans a 7-0 lead. Whitehurst was 6-of-6 on the drive.
  • Jacksonville's offensive line continues to offer little to no support for Bortles and broke its own franchise record for sacks allowed in a year with 64.
  • Tennessee led 10-7 at halftime.
  • Jacksonville stormed back to take the lead on a 1-yard touchdown run by Toby Gerhart. Gerhart left the game in the third quarter with a rib injury and did not return.
  • Jordan Todman ran for a 62-yard score, the longest run for the Jaguars all season, and extended Jacksonville's lead to 21-10. Todman finished with a team-high 71 yards on five carries.
  • Jaguars rookie linebacker Telvin Smith ended the game with 15 tackles and could be a key piece of Jacksonville's rebuild.
