Report: Trestman's handling of Cutler/Kromer has Bears' locker room 'confused'

Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman's disproportionate handling of the Jay Cutler and Aaron Kromer situation has left the Bears' locker room "confused and uncomfortable", a pair of anonymous players told ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.

Kromer, the bears offensive coordinator, admitted to disparaging Cutler to an NFL Network reporter last week, and Trestman's refusal to appropriately punish him, while subsequently benching Cutler for his poor play is being seen by players as incredibly inconsistent.

Jimmy Clausen is set to start under center against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Though Cutler may be losing the support of the coaching staff and fans, veteran cornerback Charles Tillman is still squarely in the $126-million man's corner.

"I think guys still have faith," Tillman told the NFL Network, as relayed by NFL.com's Kevin Patra. "I mean ultimately, we all have good seasons, we all have bad seasons. I've had bad seasons. I think 2005 I had a pretty bad season and my teammates they stuck with me. But ultimately they gave me their respect and I think as a teammate that's kind of what we still have to do is still give him our respect. I know it probably didn't turn out the way he wanted, but he's still a teammate."

At this point, Cutler's future in Chicago is unknown, though his large price tag may scare away teams looking to pick up a quarterback on the trade market.
