NFL executives: RG3 not worth more than a 3rd-round pick in trade

If the Washington Redskins decide to part ways with Robert Griffin III this offseason, NFL executives say it's unlikely they'll get anything more than a third-round pick for the quarterback.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that after speaking with several executives from around the league, the general consensus is that Griffin will not be back with the Redskins in 2015.

Of the five execs contacted by La Canfora, one believed Washington may be able to get a third-round pick for Griffin, two believed a fourth-rounder was fair, one said a fifth-round pick and another said a sixth-rounder that could move as high as a fourth depending on how well Griffin plays.

Griffin has one year remaining on his rookie deal, with a fifth-year option for 2016 at upwards of $15 million. According to La Canfora, the executives all believe there would be a market for Griffin, but given his injury history, locker room issues and salary, there will likely be limitations on how much teams are willing to give up to land him.
