Bills' defense decimates Jets in rout at Ford Field

Kevin Hoffman / USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills were dominant in a 38-3 win against the New York Jets on Monday night in Detroit.

Several feet of snow in Western New York caused the game to be moved to Ford Field, but the change of venue had little effect on the Bills. Buffalo moved to 6-5 with the victory while New York dropped to 2-9.

Bills quarterback Kyle Orton went 24-of-32 for 230 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. EJ Manuel replaced him in the fourth quarter.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Robert Woods opened the scoring, catching a seven-yard touchdown pass to put the Bills up 7-0. Buffalo capitalized on excellent field position after forcing the Jets to go three-and-out on the first drive of the game.
  • Woods caught nine passes for 118 yards, both career-highs.
  • Michael Vick was horrific for the Jets, going 7-of-19 for 46 yards and an interception before being pulled from the game. Geno Smith took over in the third quarter, going 10-of-12 for 89 yards, but failed to make an impact on the game.
  • Jets tight end Jace Amaro and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson both left the game and did not return. If Wilkerson's toe injury is serious, the Jets' defense could struggle even worse than it did Monday going forward.
  • Mario Williams disrupted the Jets' offensive flow time and again, recording two sacks in the first half. The Bills' defense recorded seven sacks, adding to their league-best total.
  • Scott Chandler scored a 19-yard touchdown to give the Bills a 14-3 halftime lead and proceeded to pretend to shovel show in the end zone.
  • Anthony Dixon blocked a punt, and Bills defensive end Manny Lawson recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown, expanding the lead to 24-3. Dixon also ran for a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, finishing with 54 yards on 12 carries. Fred Jackson also added a rushing touchdown.
