Report: Vikings' Ben Tate expected to play vs. Packers

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings running back Ben Tate will be active Sunday against the Green Bay Packers and is expected to have a role, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.

Tate was waived by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday after expressing disappointment over his lack of carries and was claimed by the Vikings on Wednesday.

The Vikings will be without Matt Asiata, who has a concussion, so Tate may be counted on in short yardage and goal-line situations.

Tate has 333 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
