Colts promote Zurlon Tipton from practice squad

With Ahmad Bradshaw lost for the season, the Indianapolis Colts promoted running back Zurlon Tipton from the practice squad on Saturday.

Tipton signed with the Colts in May as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan. He was waived by Indianapolis on Sept. 9 and signed with the practice squad two days later.

To make room for Tipton on the 53-man roster, the Colts waived wide receiver Griff Whalen.

The Colts reportedly tried to claim former Cleveland Browns running back Ben Tate off waivers but were unsuccessful, leaving them with Trent Richardson and Dan Herron as the only running backs on the active roster.
