Panthers' Cam Newton on loss to Saints: 'I'm not blaming anybody but myself'

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton placed the blame squarely on himself for Thursday night's 28-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

"I knew I missed a lot of throws," Newton said, according to the team's official website. "I'm not blaming anybody but myself."

Newton completed 10-of-28 passes for 151 yards and one interception. He also posted career-lows in completion percentage (35.7) and passer rating (39.4).

"My job is to put my team in the best situation to win the football game and when that doesn't happen, the first person you look to on the offensive side is the quarterback," Newton said. "I didn't get that job done.

"I need to play better. I feel like if I do that, we're moving in the right direction."
