Sean Payton criticizes league over recent Saints schedule

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints moved into first place in the NFC South with a win over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, but head coach Sean Payton wasn't all smiles afterwards.

What Payton is referring to is the fact that New Orleans played Sunday night against Green Bay and then had a quick turnaround to play the Panthers on Thursday.

Coaches would typically use the rest of Sunday after an afternoon game to prepare for Thursday. Payton didn't have that luxury this week with the late kickoff against the Packers.

The Denver Broncos had to deal with the same situation last week.

On the plus side, though, Denver and New Orleans won both games.
