Report: Giants work out 2 running backs

Free-agent running backs Felix Jones and Alex Green are scheduled to work out for the New York Giants on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of National Football Post reports.

Jones was a first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2008 and spent the first five seasons of his career in Dallas. He appeared in 16 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013, rushing for 184 yards on 48 carries.

Green, a former third-round pick, rushed for 35 yards in 13 games with the New York Jets last season.

The timing of the workouts raises some questions about the status of starting running back Rashad Jennings, who has missed the past two games with a sprained MCL.

The Giants are on a bye week and then return to face the Indianapolis Colts at home.
