Report: Ray Rice hearing set for Nov. 5-6; decision coming on Goodell testimony

The arbitrator who will hear Ray Rice's appeal of his suspension for striking his then-fiancee in an Atlantic City casino elevator could decide as early as Tuesday whether or not NFL commissioner Roger Goodell must testify, according to NBC News.

Judge Barbara Jones is the arbitrator in the matter and, should she rule in Rice's favor, the running back could return to the NFL this season.

The NFL players union claims that Rice was denied due process and was punished twice for the same offense.

Goodell initially suspended Rice two games, then changed his punishment to an indefinite suspension after TMZ released video of Rice striking Janay Palmer in the face.

Goodell would testify at an appeal hearing which has been scheudled for Nov. 5 and 6.
