Bengals' Marvin Lewis on A.J. Green: 'He's made significant progress'

The Cincinnati Bengals could certainly use a boost to their offense after getting shut out by the Indianapolis Colts over the weekend, and they may get the lift they need Sunday if wide receiver A.J. Green continues to progress in his recovery from a toe injury.

After saying Friday that Green's return was "up in the air," Lewis's feelings on the matter shifted Monday, when he said during his news conference that Green has made progress in his recovery.

"He's made significant progress and feels good about everything that he's being told," Lewis said, as reported by ESPN. "What the prognosis is is, I guess, the most important thing. It's been a consistent message he's gotten. As we said earlier, the time (off) will allow things to progress and so forth that way."

Green is dealing with an injury to the big toe on his right foot that he's classified as "something like turf toe."

He suffered the injury in the first quarter of the team's 23-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. He saw only six snaps in Week 2, and has missed two full games since.

The Bengals racked up all of 135 total yards in Sunday's game against the Colts.
