Report: 49ers' Aldon Smith could have suspension reduced for good behavior

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith could have his nine-game suspension reduced for good behavior, according to a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Smith, who was suspended by the league for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policy, would have been eligible to return Nov. 10, but if he maintains his good behavior, he could return for a Week 9 matchup against the St. Louis Rams.

This season, the 49ers sit second in the NFC West with a 4-3 record.
