Report: DeAngelo Hall injury could lead to promotion for Chase Minnifield

With cornerback DeAngelo Hall expected to miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles, the Washington Redskins are reportedly considering promoting from within.

Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins are "leaning towards" moving cornerback Chase Minnifield from the practice squad to the active roster.

Minnifield originally signed with Washington in 2012 as an undrafted rookie out of Virginia. He missed all of 2012 while recovering from knee surgery, and spent last season on the team's practice squad.

Hall was injured on a non-contact play in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and told NBC Washington afterwards that he was diagnosed with a torn Achilles. He is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.
