Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner sets an NFL single-game record by completing 24-of-26 passes (92.3 percent) in a 31-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Warner's completion percentage stands as the high-water mark for a quarterback attempting at least 20 passes in a game.
1987 - Payton scores record 107th rushing TD
Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton scores the 107th rushing touchdown of his career, breaking the all-time record previously held by Jim Brown.
Payton scores three more rushing touchdowns to cap his 12th season as a pro, bringing his career total to 110. He retires at the end of the season.
1982 - NFLPA announces strike
The National Football League Players Association declares a player strike will begin at the completion of the Monday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants.
The strike lasts 57 days and forces the season to be shortened to nine games.
