Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone announced Tuesday that he recently had a cancerous mole removed.

"During a recent doctor's visit, it was discovered that I had a cancerous mole on my skin, which has since been removed. The only follow up required is to have my moles checked every three months and that basically is the end of the story," Marrone said via a statement on the team's website

Marrone continued to add that the "recent extraction procedure" will not impact his ability to coach the team.

In a strange moment before Tuesday night's announcement, the Bills posted a story revealing Marrone was diagnosed with a "BLANK TYPE OF CANCER", which might be the reason why the team's head coach elaborated on his recent diagnosis. The post was deleted after it made the rounds on social media, but it forced Marrone's hand in announcing the mole removal. It appeared to be up for nine hours.

The former Syracuse coach is entering his second season, and guided the Bills to a 6-10 record in 2013.
