Carroll calls Kaepernick a starter, won't rule out Seahawks signing him

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll praised free agent Colin Kaepernick at the NFC coaches' breakfast Wednesday.

Perhaps more important, Carroll left the door open for the possibility the Seahawks could sign Kaepernick.

"I think he is a starter," Carroll said, according to ESPN's Sheil Kapadia.

Carroll suggested that Kaepernick just needs to find the right coach and right system.

Asked if that fit might be as the backup to Russell Wilson with the Seahawks, Carroll didn't rule it out.

"We look at everyone," Carroll said, according to USA TODAY Sports' Liz Mathews.
