Broncos' Joseph: Sexual assault allegations from 2004 are 'false'

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph spoke out this week to defend himself after allegations he committed sexual assault in 2004 resurfaced.

At the time, Joseph was accused of drinking and doing drugs with two women before they went to sleep in separate beds. Joseph was accused of stripping naked and getting into bed with each woman, and touching them without consent.

Joseph was an assistant coach at the University of Colorado at the time. He was not arrested or charged.

On Wednesday, Joseph said the allegations "are false," to The Denver Post's Nicki Jhabvala.

"That was resolved a long time ago," he said. "For myself, for my family, for the Denver Broncos, I’m disappointed and embarrassed. I was a young guy and it showed to my immaturity and irresponsibility in my life when I was younger. But I’ve grown so much and that’s why I’m disappointed, because I’ve grown so much as a person, as a coach, as a father, as a husband.

"Everyone who knows me knows that I try to live my life the right way, and I regret that my name is even associated with this."

The Broncos said they were aware of the allegations when they hired Joseph to succeed the retired Gary Kubiak as head coach.
