Bills place Watkins on IR

The Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Sammy Watkins on injured reserve Friday with a foot injury.

Watkins will miss at least the next eight weeks as a result of the move.

Head coach Rex Ryan hinted at the move earlier in the day, saying the Bills have "major concern" Watkins' injury could be a long-term issue.

The third-year wideout underwent surgery in May and attempted to play through the ailment this season, but was clearly not the same player as when healthy. He made four catches for 43 yards in Week 1, two for 20 in Week 2, and then sat out Week 3.

In a corresponding roster move, the Bills claimed receiver Justin Hunter off waivers.
