Seahawks' Carroll expects Wilson to play vs. Jets

It'll take more than a sprained MCL to keep Russell Wilson off the field.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters Wednesday that he doesn't expect his star quarterback to miss Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

"Yeah, I would be surprised," Carroll said, according to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN. "He's pretty determined to get this done."

Wilson suffered the left knee injury in last week's win over the San Francisco 49ers. His return to the field after just one play appeared to suggest that the injury was minor, but he was brought back to the sidelines and replaced by Trevone Boykin to close out the game relatively soon after.

Carroll had initially said earlier in the week that the team could opt to rest Wilson, so the latest update hints at the quarterback making a considerable amount of progress.

Avoiding any missed time would mark the second instance in which Wilson has dodged a more significant injury early this season, as he managed to escape an awkward tackle in Week 1 with just a right ankle sprain.
