Reggie McKenzie will remain the Oakland Raiders' general manager for the foreseeable future after the team rewarded him with a four-year contract extension, according to CSNBayArea.com.

Raiders owner Mark Davis announced the extension during an alumni gala on Friday night, saying: "I wanted to tell them first. Reggie's earned it."

McKenzie has served as the Raiders' general manager since 2012 after spending 18 years in the Green Bay Packers' front office. Oakland has gone 18-46 since McKenzie took over, but showed improvement last season with a 7-9 record.

Recent draft classes that have included the likes of Khalil Mack, Derek Carr, and Amari Cooper have given the Raiders a bright future, and they're viewed as a potential sleeper playoff team for the upcoming season.

The extension will carry McKenzie, who was entering the final year of his contract, through the 2020 season.
