Joe Nicholson / USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons has informed the team he is planning to retire after he signed a one-year deal in the spring, reports NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, citing a source.

Clemons spent the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars after playing in Seattle from 2010-2013, where he was part of their Super Bowl XLVIII championship roster.

He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Washington Redskins in his career after going undrafted in 2003 out of Georgia.

The 34-year-old registered 69 sacks and 18 forced fumbles in his 12-year career.
