Jalen Ramsey expected to return by training camp after undergoing surgery

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie cornerback Jalen Ramsey has undergone surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee and is expected to return in time for training camp, the team announced Tuesday.

The procedure, reportedly a meniscectomy, is a trimming of the meniscus and is the surgical option that requires a shorter recovery period. The expected time frame for a return to full health is six weeks.

The news is certainly good for the Jags, who appear to have avoided another season-altering injury in OTAs. However, many believe the "trim" surgery is worse for long-term knee health, though the return time is faster.

Ramsey underwent microfracture surgery when he was 16 but has made a full recovery. Both Florida State and the Jaguars have denied any long-term downside to his knee health.

Ramsey will likely begin the season starting at corner opposite Davon House, while free-agent addition Prince Amukamara will man the slot.
