Jags' Fowler couldn't sleep the night before returning to practice

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler is relieved to get through a practice unscathed.

One year after tearing his ACL during the first practice of minicamp, the 2015 third overall pick was back on the field Monday, not thinking about his surgically repaired left knee.

He did, however, admit to not being able to sleep the night before his return to the field.

"I found myself waking up a lot," Fowler said, according to the team's official website. "And I tried to remember if I took a nap but I didn't, so I was like 'I know what it is,' I was just antsy and ready to get out here."

Fowler repeatedly said it felt good to be back practicing, and said he got through the session without any concerns over his health from the coaching staff or trainers.

"I can turn it loose," Fowler said. "I felt pretty good, especially bending the corner and turning my torque and things like that. That was my biggest concern. That's what I wanted to see, and I felt pretty good."

The Jags' poor injury luck continued Monday, however, with seventh-round pick Jonathan Woodard tearing his ACL and depth lineman Luke Bowanko suffering a labrum injury. First-round cornerback Jalen Ramsey is also out with a meniscus tear.
