The NFL is warning players about eating meat when traveling abroad due to the presence of substances banned under the league's drug policy.

The program's independent administrator sent a memo which stated "consuming large quantities of meat" when traveling to China and/or Mexico could result in a positive test.

"Players are warned to be aware of this issue when traveling to Mexico and China," the memo states. "Please take caution if you decide to consume meat, and understand that you do so at your own risk."

The memo specifically mentions meat contaminated with clenbuterol, a substance that appears on the NFL's banned list.

Ironically, the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans will be playing a regular-season game in Mexico City in November.
