Former San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Dana Stubblefield has been charged with the rape of a disabled woman, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

The assault took place on April 9, 2015 when the alleged victim interviewed for a babysitter's job with Stubblefield at his home, according to prosecutors.

"This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim," deputy district attorney Tim McInerny said in a statement. "She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted."

Stubblefied has been officially charged with five felony counts related to the incident and, if convicted, would face a "substantial prison sentence."

Bail is set at $250,000.

During his NFL career, Stubblefield went to three Pro Bowls and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1997. He recorded 53.5 sacks and 352 tackles over 11 seasons.

He was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after being selected by the 49ers with the 26th overall pick in the 1993 draft.
