Seahawks' Schneider: No one will wear Lynch's 24 in 2016

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider agrees with his wide receiver Doug Baldwin that no rookie should wear the number of recently-retired running back Marshawn Lynch.

Schneider said Monday during an appearance on 710 ESPN Seattle's "Brock and Salk" show that Lynch's No. 24 will be off limits next season, following Baldwin's request Sunday that the number be left vacant for the foreseeable future.

"One of my last conversations with Marshawn was that nobody was going to wear No. 24 this year in the regular season," Schneider said, according Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.

While Baldwin doesn't want anyone to wear Lynch's number for years to come, it appears Schneider will only commit to next season, despite Lynch being on board with Baldwin's suggestion:

Lynch has yet to file his retirement papers, but Schneider says the Seahawks are prepared for it whenever it happens.

"We've planned for if we were going to get the papers before June 1 or after," Schneider said. "So we're good."
