Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez was hardly contrite when broached about his role in Sunday's benches-clearing brawl with the Pirates, which started after the fiery 28-year-old admired a fly ball that didn't quite make it over the center-field fence.
The fracas escalated quickly after Pirates right-hander Gerrit Cole chastised Gomez for his behavior, prompting an enraged reaction from Milwaukee's center fielder that encouraged the dugouts and bullpens to empty. A melee ensued, wherein Pirates outfielder Travis Snider ended up taking a punch to the face from Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado.
