Lightning's Bishop has 'very, very good day' of rehab

The Tampa Bay Lightning are now in a 2-0 hole in their series with the Montreal Canadiens after a loss Friday, but the news wasn't all bad.

Ben Bishop was on the ice Friday, and according to goalie coach Frantz Jean, he is progressing well from an injured elbow.

Jean told the Tampa Bay Times there were encouraging signs from the workout.

"(Friday) was a very, very good day," said Jean.

Bishop is also doing whatever he can off the ice to make sure he is prepared should he be able to return against Montreal.

"He's taking the opportunity to take in as much information as he can from the Montreal side, how they play, the atmosphere, the buzz of the playoffs and the way things happen and are done in the playoffs," Jean said. "For him, as much as he's not involved directly, it's certainly an experience he can put in his baggage for the future."

Bishop was arguably the Lightning's most important player this season when you consider Steven Stamkos missed much of the campaign with a broken leg and Martin St. Louis was dealt away at the deadline. Bishop went 37-14-7 this year with a .924 save percentage and a 2.23 GAA.

So far in the opening two games against Montreal, the Lightning have conceded nine goals.
