Flyers sign Andrew MacDonald to reported 6-year, $30M contract extension

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenseman Andrew MacDonald to a multi-year contract extension, according to the team's official website.

According to Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post, the 27-year-old will be well compensated for his services.

MacDonald was acquired by the Flyers prior to the NHL's trade deadline, recording four assists in 19 games while averaging 22:00 per contest. He also led the NHL in blocked shots with 242, and registered four goals and added 20 assists in 63 games for the New York Islanders earlier in the season.
