Blackhawks F Jonathan Toews skated 'very well' in return to the ice Thursday

Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who at age 25 owns two Olympic gold medals and two Stanley Cups, returned to the ice on Thursday. It was the first time Toews had skated since sustaining a shoulder injury in late March.

Toews felt good after his skate, and did "very well" according to Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville.

The two-way ace was ruled out for the regular season, but could return for the start of the postseason. However, it is an excellent sign for the defending Stanley Cup champions that Toews is back the ice and is feeling no ill effects with a week to go before the playoffs.
